DGAP-PVR: Epigenomics AG: Release according to Article 40, Section 1 of the WpHG [the German Securities Trading Act] with the objective of Europe-wide distribution

Deutsche Balaton AG (and Other Notifying Parties, see Voting rights notification as of 26 October 2018), Heidelberg, Germany informed us on November 21, 2018 pursuant to Art. 43(1) WpHG thereby making reference to the exceedance of the threshold of 10% or a higher threshold from October 24, 2018 , as follows:

A. Objectives pursued with the acquisition of voting rights:

1. The investment of Deutsche Balaton AG and the Other Notifying Parties is long-term and is made with the purpose of achieving asset growth. For this we expect that patience over a medium time horizon will be necessary.

2. Neither the German Balaton AG nor the other notifying parties, which in the German Balaton Group are, among others, currently attributable to ABC Beteiligungen AG and Heidelberger Beteiligungsholding AG intend, but do not rule out in the future, to acquire further voting rights directly or indirectly within the next twelve months. Depending on the price, additional voting rights may be acquired by purchase or otherwise within the next twelve months.

3. Deutsche Balaton AG and the Other Notifying Parties do not endeavor to influence the composition of administrative, management and supervisory bodies of Epigenomics AG. They will exercise their voting rights at their own discretion at the next elections of Supervisory Board members.

4. Deutsche Balaton AG is currently not aiming for a material change in the capital structure of the company (in particular with regard to the ratio of equity and debt financing and the dividend policy).

B. With regard to the origin of the funds for the acquisition of voting rights in Epigenomics AG, we inform you that Deutsche Balaton AG or the Group companies of Deutsche Balaton AG, which hold the voting rights in Epigenomics AG, have own funds for the acquisition of acquired voting rights. The corresponding own funds were generated in part from existing general loan agreements.
